History of Millersville Maryland

Millersville is a unincorporated network in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. Populace was 20,965 out of 2015 dependent on American Community Survey (U.S. Registration Bureau) information.

Millersville, named for the principal Postmaster, George Miller, was the main Post Office to be set up, on July 24, 1841, along the Annapolis and Elkridge Railroad (the An and E). Completed in 1840, the An and E was one of the most punctual rail lines in the U.S., interfacing Annapolis with the Washington Branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Today, Millersville is generally rural, however the center of the notable town remains. The Childs Residence, recorded on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, is a point of convergence of the new bicycle trail that goes through the memorable core.
